About Steel Frog and the blog
Find out more about the man behind the curtain
My name is Eric. I create awesome blogs, slick websites and write great HTML and CSS. On this blog, I share my ideas with other passionate designers, front-end gurus, techies and gamers alike. I’m currently employed as a full-time web designer for a small Canadian company.
In my off-time, I love to build and fix things. We’ve recently purchased our first home and I’ve been happily getting my hands dirty building a deck, shed, home cinema, speakers and other fun stuff. When I can, I make sure to document my experiences for others to try and write articles on how to duplicate my experiences in a simple, easy to understand format.
As a gamer, you can find me on XBOX Live as Steelfrogg, on PSN as Steelfrog, on Battle.net and MSN at eric@steelfrog.com.
About the blog
Steel Frog.com was registered on November 30th, 2006. The original intent was to create a portfolio site for myself and place a couple of quick tutorials I had written in the past in a centralized location. It naturally evolved into a fully-fledged blog, now running WordPress. Find a bug? Make sure it’s not already in the bug tracker, or report it to me so I can get it fixed!
You’re looking at the seventh revision of the design, with about a dozen un-released designs in between. For the curious, here are some of the previous designs. Unfortunately, I don’t have full-sized screenshots for all of them yet as I need to restore them from an archive.
Credit where it is due
Most of the photos you see on this site are grabbed from Stock Exchange and remain the property of their original authors. Special thanks to Komodo Media for the awesome social icon set, and to Snook for general inspiration on keeping things clean. Thanks to Elements of Design for their great showcase, and to all of you who take the time to visit my blog and explore what it has to offer.
Thanks to JQuery, WordPress and HostGator for making this thing run as it should, the W3C’s validators for making my life easier, and to Firebug and Yslow for optimization tips. Props to Dave Rupert for his excellent optimization tips, and thanks to Crazy Leaf Design for their simple, effective form script which I’ve modified to suit my needs.
Copyrights and usage
If you want, you can read a longer, more boring detailed licensing statement but all you really need to know is that all the content, articles and images on this blog are licensed under the Creative Commons BY-NC-ND License. This means you can share content as you see fit as long as you credit (and link) me for the work, don’t use it for commercial purposes or transform it.
Please don’t hot-link images (I’ll goatse you good), or copy articles in their entirety for the sole purpose of creating spam blogs. If you have any concerns or questions regarding ownership of content or wish to know more, do contact me. I will enforce my rights as a copyright holder where I see fit to do so.
